After Sun Exposure: pamper your skin

Now that your holidays are about to end, you have finally gained a beautiful golden tan. But it can soon fade away, and you don't want that, do you? Did you know it only takes about 28 days for the cutis' (skin) cells to completely renew themselves?
This is the time to take extra-care of your skin. Here are a few important steps to cure, heal and pamper your skin in order to make it feel even better and to maintain your beautiful sun-kissed complexion:

Guess what, your keyword is moisturise! Eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies plus drink at least 1 - 1.5 litres of water a day in order to hydrate your skin from the inside.
Pass by the bathtub and head for the shower: soaking in warm water could make your skin scale off. You need quick, mild cleansing instead.
If you still want to have a bath, don't make it longer than 8/10 minutes, and before getting in the water apply a body oil all over to shield your skin and create a barrier.
Forget the "soap" for a while, and opt for something gentler, especially created for tanned skin: you need specific formulas that are kind enough to your body. Shower oils are your best friends now!
Flaking off? Every other day, help your cells renew with a gentle scrub that also delivers moisture, our favourite scrubs are Oliv’s Gentle Body Scrub and Suzanne aux Bains’s Body Scrub, they deliver what your epidermis needs during this delicate moment -- a gentle exfoliating scrub action that helps remove dead skin cells and leaves your skin protected, feeling soft and smooth. Scrubs will not remove the tan, on the contrary, they will emphasize it by removing dead cells from the surface that would make it look opaque.
Moisturise, moisturise, and moisturise again. Apply an after-sun lotion or oil every morning, every night and after every shower. After sun lotions/oils are formulated for the specific needs of tanned skin, so they not only moisturise, but they refresh you and bring emollient factors that penetrate deeply in the epidermis' surface. Soothing After Sun Oil by Spiezia will do just that.
Your face needs super-extra care: wash it with a fragrance free, hydrating cleanser that gently cleans without irritating even dry, sensitive skin. Try Green People’s neutral no scent 2 in 1 cleanser and make up remover for sensitive skin.

Moreover, every two days apply a moisturising mask to hydrate and nourish skin, leaving it soft, smooth and refreshed!

Extra Protection for Holiday Hair

After a day at the beach your hair is likely to need extra nourishment to restore its healthy lustre. Saaf's Organic Enriching Hair Oil will offer protection to the hair as well as strengthen, condition and add shine. Massage the oil into the scalp and leave for 20 minutes before washing as usual, or for a more intense treatment leave in over night. For added protection on holiday, the oil can be left on whilst sunbathing.

A Revolutionary Natural Self Tan

Green People's Self Tan Lotion allows you to achieve a natural looking sun kissed glow without harmful sun exposure. There are a few things that you can do to ensure that you get a perfect streak free and long lasting tan;

  1. Prepare the skin by exfoliating dead skin cells to ensure an even tan. Suzanne Aux Bains Gentle Body Scrub will remove dead skin cells whilst deeply regenerating and moisturising the skin. Dry the skin thoroughly afterwards. You may also wish to apply a little moisturiser on the rougher areas of the skin, paying particular attention to elbows and knees.
  2. When applying the tan, start from the feet up and apply in even circular motions. Ensure that the knees and elbows are given a thin coat of the tanning lotion as it is likely to gather in these areas. When applying tan to the face and neck mix the lotion with a little of your normal moisturiser and build up the tan gradually. In order to prevent staining on the hands you could wear rubber gloves for the application; otherwise ensure that your hands, including nails and cuticles, are thoroughly cleaned afterwards.
  3. Let the tanning cream dry thoroughly before dressing, and if possible wear loose clothing to prevent patches on the skin. A good time to apply tan is an hour before bed, as the tan will develop overnight.
  4. Reapply the lotion every few days or as often as you feel is needed to maintain the colour. Ensure that the skin is moisturised daily in order to enhance the look of you tan.

Banish Bacteria

The Deodorant Stone from Essential Care offers effective odour control without aluminium, fragrance or preservatives. The stone consists of naturally formed crystals of a certified pure food grade mineral salt, Potassium Alum which is non-toxic, hypo-allergenic and does not block the pores or stain clothing. Skin Care for Men

Historically, men have not been automatically inducted into the finishing school of good skin care and grooming. In fact, until recently men were almost chastised for using anything more than soap and perhaps a little aftershave. However, the 21st century has hailed a new era in which good skin care is not only accepted but rather expected as the norm. A daily routine should at least include cleansing and moisturing, with the addition of a twice-weekly exfoliation.

Why exfoliate?

The skin should be exfoliated to remove dead skin cells and reduce excess oil, this will help to maintain clear healthy skin that is free from blackheads. Exfoliating the face will also prepare the skin for a close shave and help to prevent in growing hairs.

Eyre Biobotanics has a range that is specifically designed for the skin care needs of men.
